NASA Video Shows 131 Years of Warming World In 26 Seconds

Kate Sheppard, a staff reporter of Mother Jones' Washington bureau, points us to the video put together by NASA using the temperature records between 1880 and 2011. The video shows you the warming world in just 26 terrifying seconds.

NASA uses the average temperature between 1951 and 1980 as the baseline. Blue color means temperatures are lower than the baseline and red means above the average.

The video shows temperatures through 2011, which was the ninth warmest year on record at the time. But 2012 is certainly on pace to be just as out-of-the-ordinary.
